Forest management

Indigenous forest management in the Peruvian Amazon native communities refers to the sustainable forest management carried out by indigenous peoples on their territories, by means of actions aimed at taking advantage of the sustainable use of timber, non-timber and ecosystem services provided by the forests.

The MDE Saweto Perú initiative will finance the implementation of subprojects that are mainly contributing to improve food security and boost the economy in the communities. Each subproject will enjoy technical support in order to strengthen the capacities of beneficiaries in the sustainable use of forest resources. These activities are intended to reduce pressure exerted on forests through activities related to deforestation and land use change in indigenous territories.
